Tuskegee University is a private university in Alabama, established by Lewis Adams and Booker T. Washington. It aims at rendering racially, ethnically, and religiously diverse education to the approaching students. The university is divided into five colleges and three schools. They are – The College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences, The College of Arts and Sciences, The Andrew F. Brimmer College of Business and Information Science, The College of Engineering, The College of Veterinary Medicine, The Robert R. Taylor School of Architecture and Construction Science, The School of Education, and The School of Nursing and Allied Health. Fascinatingly, it was and is the first black university to be accredited by the National Historic Landmark. Since the day of the establishment, this institution has grown itself to be one of the best universities in the town. It tries to provide outstanding education and focuses on higher learning deliverance among the potential crowd. Presently, the institution houses almost three thousand students and consists of over eight hundred faculty members. This vast campus comprises five thousand acres of forestry and holds up to a hundred major structures. The undergraduate courses offered here are Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Science. It also provides the post-graduation degree and the PhDs for the same courses. The university also offers financial assistance to the students of its colleges, such as grants, loans, and scholarships. Some of the scholarships provided through the colleges to the deserving students are Athletic Scholarship, Computer Science Scholars Program, Endowed Scholarships, External Scholarships, Freshman Scholarships, R.O.T.C Scholarships, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, ChameloenJohn Scholarship, Shomari Asim Foster Scholarship, and Transfer Student Scholarship. The university provides residential facilities to its students, teaching faculty and the non-teaching staff. It has designed its residential complex in such a manner that it provides female halls, male halls, and apartments. The various halls specially built for the women students and teachers are Douglass Hall, Emery I Hall, Emery III Hall, Harvey Hall, James Hall, Russell Hall, Tantum Hall, Sage Hall, Younge Hall, and the White Hall. The various halls specially built for the male students and staff are Banneker Hall, Bethune Hall, Emery II Hall, Emery IV Hall, James Hall, and Rockefeller Hall. The halls that are repeated in both departments are co-ed. The university has the following apartments within its premises for students. They are the East Common Apartment, the North Common Apartment, the West Common Apartment, and the Marble Common Apartments. The university aims at rendering a safe and comfortable staying experience for the students without any compromise in their duration of stay. It maintains a hygienic and friendly atmosphere and transforms students into responsible citizens of the future. The university also offers career services. The “Handshake” program allows employers to visit the campus. And, they are free to choose from the pool of talents available with the university.
