The Nalanda Open University is the only University in the State of Bihar meant for imparting learning exclusively through the system of distance education

Nalanda Open University is recognized by the Distance Education Council (DEC) and Ministry of HRD, Government of India for imparting education through distance mode

The University has an air-conditioned electronically controlled examination centre for about 1000 examinees

University has launched its Mobile App on Android platform & became first University of Bihar which has introduced Mobile App to provide all kinds of latest information to students & people in general

The University is also a member of International Council of Open and Distance Education and Asian Association of Open Universities for improvement & up-gradation of its courses at international level

The courses offered by the University are innovative, job oriented & self-satisfying and at present there are 10 schools operational under Nalanda Open University

University has hosted number of workshops for enhancing the functioning capability of Faculty Members, Examiners, Counselors, Study Centre Coordinators and Non-teaching Staff

The university offers free of cost education to Jail (Prison) inmates
